"Hungry"
by Trent

"A man wakes up one day and puts on his socks with holes, searches his house for food and finds nothing but bare cupboards.  He uses the spare change around the house to go buy food, but runs into people who seem to be more hungry than him and ends up with nothing.  Or does he?"

FADE IN:

INT. BEDROOM – DAY

A MAN wakes up.  The place is a mess.  The laundry basket is overflowing.  The alarm clock reads 12:30pm.  He gets out of bed wearing only his underwear.  He dresses in dirty clothes from the night before.

INT. KITCHEN – DAY

Man walks in and opens the refrigerator, it’s bare.  He opens the cupboards and they are also bare except for a box of no brand cereal.  He looks in the refrigerator again, still nothing.

He checks the cupboards once more and grabs the box of no brand cereal.  He looks in and it’s empty except for a few crumbs.  He eats them.  He looks around for anything that resembles food and finds nothing.

He looks on the floor and finds a penny.  It’s his lucky day!  He gets an idea to look for change and go shopping for food.  He begins to search for coins in his pockets.

The STORE CLERK rings him up and bags his items.  He has a few coins left over.

He sees a sign with a container to help Tsunami victims.  He contemplates keeping his change, but puts it in the container.

The light turns to walk and the man crosses the street.  He looks back and sees the homeless man going through the trash.

He looks into his bag and contemplates his hunger.

He crosses the street again and heads towards the homeless man.  The homeless man looks up from the trash can.

The man now has nothing.
