Biography

I was born on October 16, 1968 in Orlando, FL.

I was raised in Valdosta, GA, graduated high school & joined the Navy at 17, traveled around the
world & the US, eventually moved to Hollywood, CA, and now I live in Brooklyn, NY.

After surviving high school, the US Navy, and then running my own computer business, I began chasing my dream of an acting career on October 2nd, 1995 at 7:30PM (my first acting class).  My acting career might have begun technically earlier.  I was the class clown ever since my first day of kindergarten and all through high school(Valdosta High - class of 1986).  I also got sent to the principal's office often, but I never got paid for that, so that probably doesn't count.

For a little over four years, I trained, acted, and improvised in Frederick, Maryland at The Maryland Ensemble Theatre.  I also took a few Shakespeare, comedy, and stage combat classes in Washington, D.C. at the Shakespeare Theatre Company.  In January of 2000, I moved to Chicago, IL where I studied at The Second City, ImprovOlympic, and Annoyance Theater.  For over three years, I trained and performed in numerous films, plays, sketch, and improv shows.

In March of 2004, I moved to Los Angeles to continue my acting career and love for film.  From September of 2005 to April of 2007, I took a fact finding trip of the soul to Korea, China, Thailand, Cambodia, and many other places (click here for My Korea Trip).  That time in Asia changed my insides and my outsides.  I like to say that I found peace and love...peace and love baby.

In September of 2007, I enrolled in film school at Los Angeles City College.  I made two short films there (The Smelly Janitor and Hungry) and wrote a couple of others (“F” and “George’s 40th Birthday”).  In June of 2009, I graduated Magna Cum Laude from Los Angeles City College with an Associate's Degree in Cinema Production and then transferred to the USC Film Production Program.

In my USC beginning film class (290), I wrote/directed/produced four short films (Norman Topping Student Aid Fund, The Captain, The Reality of Love, and Fried Chicken & Boobs).  I acted in and edited one in class exercise (The Green Apple), and directed a group project (What Happens in Boston).  I also acted in numerous projects for my fellow classmates.

In one half of my USC intermediate film class (310), I wrote/directed/produced one short film (One for You and One for Me) and for the other half, I was the cinematographer/editor/producer on my partner’s project (All Better).

In the spring of 2010, I submitted two scripts that I wrote to be considered for the fall 2010 advanced class (480).  I think almost seventy scripts were submitted and both of my scripts were chosen as one of the eleven finalists.  One of my scripts made it to the final four and was produced by USC in the fall of 2010.  I was the writer/producer on that project (George’s 40th Birthday).  I decided to direct and act in the other script (Buddha’s Bracelet) during my summer break of 2010.

In 2011, I graduated Cum Laude from USC with a Bachelor’s in Film and TV Production and now I’m following my filmmaking dream, to make the world smile.

In August of 2012, I moved to Brooklyn, NY to concentrate on screenwriting for a few years.  The plan is to get a few of these feature screenplays swimming around in my head out of there, while being influenced by a new city and new surroundings.  I’m hoping to get a few screenplays polished and then head back to LA and make them!

I love to make films that emotionally affect audiences.  I also love acting and even though my strongest experience is in comedy, especially physical comedy, I enjoy and find dramatic work more challenging.  I've been called a cross between John Belushi and Chris Farley, but I admire and aspire to do character work like Phillip Seymour Hoffman and Paul Giamatti.

Besides continuing to act, my goal is to write and direct films until my last breath.  I’d also like to teach acting and filmmaking one day, because I’d love to inspire others to chase their dreams too.
