Movie Star!
May 11, 2006
Today the college I teach at asked me to pose for
a few pictures with a couple of the Korean students. They want
to promote the international angle of the school. It was fun
and reminded me of how much I'm beginning to miss acting and LA.
After smiling and posing for some still shots, they brought over a
small camera crew with a camera boom. I felt like I was on a
movie set and I was a big movie star! Of course, the role I
was playing was of a big fat American and I nailed it!
We did a couple of walking shots where I
pantomimed talking to the students as we walked through a courtyard.
I also did a single close up shot later in the evening where I
pretended to be talking via a webcam. After the shoot, I went
back to my office and went to this very site and printed my headshot
& resume and gave them to the director. I knew I should've
brought some headshots with me! He didn't speak English very
well, so I pointed to my picture and resume then slapped my belly a
few times and said "If you ever need a fat American actor...call
me!"
What I learned
today about Korea: 1) I rule at playing a fat white
American.
