A Typical Saturday
July 22, 2006
Soon after I arrived in South Korea, I learned
that English is a very important part of the Korean culture.
English is everywhere; it's on clothes, signs, products, etc.
Children begin to study English at a very young age and it's a
required course all the way through college. Some companies
even require their employees to pass an English test as part of the
interview process.
Since I've been a teacher/trainer for many years
and I've spoke English for at least the past 2 1/2 years, it was a
natural fit for me to help people I meet practice and study English.
But, as soon as I started to help one person, the word of the "funny
chubby American teacher" traveled like the wind and now I'm so busy
that my only free time/nap time is the taxi ride between classes!
The classes I teach are either in my home, the home of the family,
or a small English Academy that's close to my home.
Of course, I teach a computer course Monday-Friday nights...that's
the whole reason I'm here!
Here's my normal weekly schedule
