Today was my 38th birthday.  The wonderful Hwang family made me me a luscious dinner of some of my favorite Korean dishes and we also had a scrumptious birthday cake.

What I learned today about Korea:  1)  Traditionally, Koreans eat a special soup called Mi Yeok Guk (seaweed soup) on their birthday.  This is the same food that mothers eat after they give birth.  It's supposed to bring good luck.  I had some of course!
