Daegu - Day 8
September 29, 2005
나는Taco Bell을 원한다
(Korean Translation)
Today was a great day! Starrlite took me to a
local Army base and we ate at Taco Bell! Mmmmm...I thought I
could go a month or so without having some American bad fast food,
but I didn't even last a week till I was jonesing for the crack.
We also shopped on base for some basic necessities I wanted that
aren't readily available in Daegu. I got a coffee maker, bean
grinder, a comforter/sheet/pillow case set, Britta water filter
(even most Koreans don't drink the tap water), and a shower
curtain/rod. Yeah for dry bathroom floors finally!
After work I met her mom and step dad and we went to
a local restaurant that specializes in a spicy chicken/vegetable
dish. It was really really good and spicy. I also tried
Soju for the first time. It tastes kinda like sweet rubbing
alcohol, but grows on ya quickly.
What I learned
today about Korea: 1) Soju is the most popular liquor
drink. 2) Korean High School kids from sophomore till
senior year, go to class from 7:00am till 11:00pm. Some even
go to other institutes of learning till 2:00am. 3) What the damn controls on my Korean
washing machine do.
